What is day-to-day life like in St Peter’s Sixth Form?
Well, firstly you can expect a very warm welcome. St Peter’s has established itself as a caring, supportive community. If you are new to the school, no need to worry – we will make every effort to help you settle in quickly. You will be placed in a tutor group consisting of new students and those that have been with us since Year 7. Starting at 6th Form is an exciting time for everyone and there will be many friendly faces to get to know! Your tutor group meets every morning and this time can prove particularly valuable as you quickly settle in.
Every day will offer new opportunities. Expect to be challenged and stretched in your lessons. All of your teachers will have your best interests at heart. You will be updated regularly on your progress and supported if you find any aspects difficult. All staff – from teachers to support staff – will be keen for you to ‘become the best that you can be’. Of course, you have a lead role in this, and we encourage you to communicate regularly. By letting us know how you are feeling with things, we can do our very best to help.
Don’t think Sixth Form life will be all about study. Of course your Academic success is a main focus, however we aim to encourage you to grow as a ‘whole’ person. To do this there is a wide range of exciting opportunities – from our varied enrichment options to extra-curricular sports, performances, trips abroad, work experience and celebratory events. Joining Sixth Form is a great time to try something new. By becoming fully involved we are sure you will find your time with us richly rewarding.
In addition to our school wide facilities (from the sports hall with climbing wall and fully equipped gym to our Dance studio, tennis courts and 470 seat theatre) our Sixth Form Centre provides space for personal study – with wireless broadband and designated computer areas – alongside comfortable areas for taking some time out for lunch, or a break-time snack and hot drink with friends. Our well-equipped library also provides a popular alternative for making the most of those new study periods on your timetable.
Of course the best insights that you can gain into St Peter’s Sixth Form will come from visiting and talking to our students. Contact Us – We would love to welcome you and give you a taste of life at St Peter’s School. It really is a very special place to be.
