This A Level is an arts-based option that will enable you to look, think, question, articulate and create with heightened sensitivity. It has established an exceptional reputation for experimental and forward-thinking teaching and learning. Gallery visits, artist workshops and residential fieldwork also form an important part of a rewarding pathway that is both highly practical and academically rich.
Content
- Explore the work of a wide range of photographers and artists.
- Develop ‘transferable’ life skills – including your ability to observe, to work with others, to solve creative problems, to present your ideas and to manage creative projects.
- The opportunity to take part in residential fieldwork, gallery visits, respond to live briefs and take part in community-based projects.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Grade 5 or above in GCSE Photography, Art, Textiles, or an alternative arts-based option. If you were unable to study an arts-based subject at GCSE you will be considered following a discussion with the Subject Leader.

Opportunities
The course provides an excellent foundation for a career or further study in many creative industries. Future pathways might include photo journalism, advertising, media, design, fashion, animation or filmmaking.
