Individual courses have additional entry requirements, and where courses are sometimes oversubscribed, there are specific criteria available on request. Our minimum entry requirements are 5 GCSEs, preferably including English and Mathematics, at Grade 4 or above. You are expected to be willing to play a full part in our community as one of our senior students, and to work with us in achieving success.
The Application Process
We welcome online or paper applications. You can apply online or contact us for a paper application form. The deadline for applications is announced each year at the Open Evening, and as we are oversubscribed, we may not be able to process applications received after this date.
When the application is received we will call for references and invite you to come and meet us. In the meeting we will look with you at the courses that might be useful to you in moving into your future career (Please note: We’d be interested to see your Progress File, so please bring it along).
If you are likely to be able to meet our entry criteria, you will receive a letter offering you a provisional place in the Sixth Form. This provisional place is subject to our general entry criteria.
During the Summer term you will be invited to attend a Welcome Event. On this day you will get your first experience of life as a Sixth Form student. You can explore the site, attend taster sessions for each of your chosen subjects and meet new friends.
Helping With Problems
After the publication of the GCSE results you have the opportunity to discuss your results and make alterations to your chosen programme of study, if necessary.
