Young people who are facing financial hardship can claim support to help with costs of transport, food, equipment or other course-related costs. To receive Student Financial Support you must apply before the middle of September of each academic year. Application forms are given out at enrolment in August or are available from the Sixth Form Office. For further advice please contact the Sixth Form Administrator on 01202 421141, ext 2212.
All students who submit an application will be contacted by email informing them of the assistance they can receive. Student Financial applications are made annually, but applications will also be considered throughout the year, should your circumstances change, subject to funds being available.
There are two types of student financial support options that students can access
Vulnerable Bursary
You can apply for a vulnerable bursary (up to £1,200 a year) if you are: in care; a care leaver; get Income Support (IS), or Universal Credit (UC); get Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payments and Employment Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit.
Discretionary Bursary
You can apply for a discretionary bursary if you need financial help with a specific aspect of Sixth Form life. For example, help with cost of transport, meals, books and equipment. Discretionary Bursary applications will be considered throughout the year, subject to funds being available.
